Bioinformatics and Its Relevance in Biomedical Research
On 27 May 2023, the Sciencoon Club hosted an engaging academic session titled “Bioinformatics and Its Relevance in Biomedical Research.” The event, led by host Tayo Olayinka Favour, brought together students and early‑career researchers interested in understanding how computational tools are reshaping modern biomedical science. Participants explored the growing role of bioinformatics in genomics, disease modelling, drug discovery, and data‑driven research, reflecting the increasing global demand for computational literacy in the life sciences.
The session featured Christopher B. Olowosoke, representing B.Khrease Academic Consult, as the Guest Speaker. His presentation provided practical insights into how bioinformatics can strengthen wet‑lab workflows and accelerate scientific discovery. B.Khrease Academic Consult’s involvement highlighted the organisation’s commitment to research empowerment, scientific literacy, and capacity building across Africa. The event demonstrated the value of collaborative learning platforms in equipping emerging scientists with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving research landscape.
